Thilina Pathirana, Network/System Engineer, LEARN
Thilina, the Network/System Engineer for LEARN is a Graduate from University of Kelaniya and an Incorporated Engineer in Electronics Engineering. He has completed his masters in Information Security from UCSC and has more than 8 years of experience in Network/System Engineering. He is responsible in providing Technical Assistance to the LEARN members and mentoring them on new technologies and systems. Also he is looking after the technical matters regarding LEARN Identity Access Federation (LIAF) and LEARN - eduroam collaboration.
Thilina has participated in several local and foreign trainings on internet working, routing, Security, SDN, IPv6, VoIP and WLAN. Before joining LEARN he was the Assistant Network Manager for University of Kelaniya (UoK). Because of his work at UoK, they became the first Sri Lankan University to provide IPv6 connectivity for whole user base and first University with full WLAN coverage including hostels. UoK is the first eduroam IRO to connect with Sri Lankan NRO because of his work.
He is engaged in LKNOG, ISOC Sri Lanka Chapter, CSSL and Sri Lanka Saukyadana Movement where he is doing lectures and training sessions on various technical topics.
